On August 27, 2021, at dawn, Jorge León Agustí, older brother of Olga, Gladys and Patricia, and eldest son of Isabel Agusti de León and Jorge León Forero, left this world to join Olga, Chavita and Cecilia in eternity.
The Aljure León family and Rochester School deeply regret his passing as a founding member of our institution and join in prayer with his entire family. His wife, María Eugenia Gómez, and his daughters Sandra, Claudia, María Isabel and Carolina, along with his sons-in-law Terry, Iván and Hugo, and his seven grandchildren, wrote a beautiful obituary for the funeral ceremony held last September 2, 2021, in the city of Austin, Texas.
OBITUARY:
Jorge León Agustí passed away, surrounded by his loving family, at his home in Austin, Texas, on Friday, August 27, 2021. Born on May 31, 1936, in Bogotá, Colombia, son of Jorge León Forero and Isabel Agustí Pastor. Jorge graduated from University of Rochester in New York as a mechanical engineer. Subsequently he obtained a Master’s Degree in structural engineering at the University of Michigan.
On March 18, 1961, he married María Eugenia Gómez, they had 4 girls: Sandra, Claudia (Terry Shapiro), María Isabel (Ivan Mustain) and Carolina (Hugo Diago) and seven grandchildren. During 30 years he worked in different consulting engineering firms, in Bogotá, as a structural designer. His priority was always his family and their wellbeing. He worked with passion and commitment, but also enjoyed partying with friends during the weekend; dancing, singing and having some drinks, was his favorite pass time.
In 1991, he retired from consulting engineering and started working in the construction of the prestigious bilingual school, Gimnasio Fontana, cofounded by his wife, Maria Eugenia, in Bogotá. He also taught math and physics to high school students until 2011. Shortly thereafter, they retired, became residents of USA and moved, first to Tampa, Florida, and then to Austin, Texas, where he thoroughly enjoyed his home with family and friends for the past seven years. A memorial service for Jorge was held Thursday, September 2, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin TX 78750.
A memorial service will be held in Bogota, on September 22, 2021, at the church of Colegio Gimnasio Moderno, his Alma Mater, where his ashes will be left.

La familia Aljure León y el Colegio Rochester lamentan profundamente su fallecimiento, como miembro fundador de nuestra institución y se une en oración a toda su familia. Su esposa María Eugenia Gómez y sus hijas Sandra, Claudia, María Isabel y Carolina, junto con sus yernos Terry, Iván y Hugo, y sus siete nietos, escribieron un hermoso obituario para la ceremonia fúnebre llevada a cabo el pasado 2 de septiembre de 2021, en la ciudad de Austin, Texas.
OBITUARIO:
Jorge León Agustí falleció, rodeado de su querida familia, en su casa de Austin, Texas, el viernes, 27 de agosto de 2021. Nació el 31 de mayo de 1936, en Bogotá, Colombia, hijo de Jorge León Forero e Isabel Agustí Pastor. Jorge se graduó en la Universidad de Rochester, en Nueva York, como Ingeniero Mecánico. Posteriormente, obtuvo una Maestría en Ingeniería Estructural en la Universidad de Michigan.
El 18 de marzo de 1961 se casó con María Eugenia Gómez, con quien tuvo 4 hijas: Sandra, Claudia casada con Terry Shapiro), María Isabel (casada con Ivan Mustain) y Carolina (casada con Hugo Diago) y siete nietos. Durante 30 años trabajó en Bogotá con diferentes firmas de consultoría en Ingeniería, como diseñador estructural. Su prioridad fue siempre su familia y su bienestar. Trabajaba con pasión y compromiso, pero también disfrutaba de las fiestas con amigos durante el fin de semana; bailar, cantar y tomar unos tragos, era su pasatiempo favorito.
En 1991 se retiró de la consultoría en ingeniería de consulta y comenzó a trabajar en la construcción del prestigioso colegio bilingüe Gimnasio Fontana, cofundado por su esposa, María Eugenia, en Bogotá. También enseñó matemáticas y física a estudiantes de secundaria hasta el 2011. Poco después se jubilaron, se convirtieron en residentes de EE.UU. y se trasladaron, primero a Tampa, Florida, y luego a Austin, Texas, donde disfrutó plenamente de su hogar con la familia y los amigos durante los últimos siete años.

El próximo 22 de septiembre de 2021, se realizará en Bogotá un servicio conmemorativo en la iglesia del Colegio Gimnasio Moderno, su Alma Mater, donde se dejarán sus cenizas.
