In July 2023, our Rochester students went to a Summer Camp in England for 3 weeks with our English Teacher, Jenny Chant. The aim of this trip was to promote global citizenship, English language competence and intercultural learning through an authentic cultural, and linguistic experience. Our students had the opportunity to travel to different cities in the UK, learn about the culture, make new friends from all over the world and practice their English skills.

In week 1, the students visited the stunning Stourhead National Trust Site with its beautiful lake and gardens. They also went on the roller coasters at Thorpe Park. The students really enjoyed the Enchanted Forest evening event and Karaoke.
Students have 15 hours of English classes every week where they learn Maths, Science, History, Geography and other subjects in English according to the British National Curriculum. Older students aged 14-17 can choose Global Studies where they debate real world issues and get involved in community projects.
In week 2, the students enjoyed going to Lyme Regis beach and visited the beautiful city of Bath. Furthermore, the students danced to their favourite songs at the Silent Disco. Diego Tobon impressed us all with his guitar skills at the International Talent Show and Isabella Ramirez, Ammy Alcocer and Gabriela Bejarano sang beautifully!
In week 3, the students went to the city of Wells which is the smallest city in the UK. Some of our students went to Burnham-On-Sea to do a beach clean and help the local community which links to the K in SHICKEL of Kindness and Service. Our students also visited Cardiff, the capital of Wales, and learnt about the history behind the Cardiff Castle. The main events this week were the International Food Festival and Crystal Maze.
During their time at Millfield, the students stay in boarding houses which have a whole team of pastoral staff who take care of the childrens’ needs on a 24 hour basis. There are staff who are trained in safeguarding to protect the health, well-being and human rights of each student.
The students can choose to do a range of activities in the afternoon such as: horse riding, tennis, golf, football, dance, photography, art, swimming and more.
We all had a fantastic time!

En julio de 2023, nuestros estudiantes de Rochester fueron a un campamento de verano en Inglaterra durante 3 semanas con nuestra profesora de inglés, Jenny Chant. El objetivo de este viaje fue promover la ciudadanía global, la competencia en el idioma inglés y el aprendizaje intercultural a través de una auténtica experiencia cultural y lingüística. Nuestros estudiantes tuvieron la oportunidad de viajar a diferentes ciudades del Reino Unido, aprender sobre la cultura, hacer nuevos amigos de todo el mundo y practicar sus habilidades en inglés.

En la semana 1, los estudiantes visitaron el impresionante sitio Stourhead National Trust con su hermoso lago y jardines. También subieron a las montañas rusas de Thorpe Park. Los estudiantes realmente disfrutaron el evento nocturno del Bosque Encantado y el Karaoke.
Los estudiantes tienen 15 horas de clases de inglés cada semana donde aprenden Matemáticas, Ciencias, Historia, Geografía y otras materias en inglés de acuerdo con el Currículo Nacional Británico. Los estudiantes mayores, de entre 14 y 17 años, pueden elegir Estudios Globales, donde debaten problemas del mundo real y participan en proyectos comunitarios.
En la semana 2, los estudiantes disfrutaron yendo a la playa de Lyme Regis y visitaron la hermosa ciudad de Bath. Además, los estudiantes bailaron sus canciones favoritas en la Discoteca Silenciosa. Diego Tobón nos impresionó a todos con sus habilidades con la guitarra en el Show Internacional de Talentos e Isabella Ramírez, Ammy Alcocer y Gabriela Bejarano cantaron maravillosamente.
En la semana 3, los estudiantes fueron a la ciudad de Wells, que es la ciudad más pequeña del Reino Unido. Algunos de nuestros estudiantes fueron a Burnham-On-Sea para limpiar la playa y ayudar a la comunidad local que se vincula con la K en SHICKEL de Bondad y Servicio. Nuestros estudiantes también visitaron Cardiff, la capital de Gales, y aprendieron sobre la historia detrás del Castillo de Cardiff. Los principales eventos de esta semana fueron el Festival Internacional de Comida y Crystal Maze.
Durante su estancia en Millfield, los estudiantes se alojan en las casas del colegio internado que cuentan con un equipo completo de personal pastoral que se ocupa de las necesidades de los niños las 24 horas. Se cuenta con personal capacitado en la protección del niño para proteger la salud, el bienestar y los derechos de cada estudiante.
Los estudiantes pueden optar por realizar una variedad de actividades por la tarde como: equitación, tenis, golf, fútbol, danza, fotografía, arte, natación y más.
