Held by the Learning Resources Center and as part of the framework of the “Joy of Reading” program, our READING WITH NO LETTERS workshop took place last Thursday, September 29th. It was dedicated to the mothers and fathers of our Pre-Kinder and Kinder students to support them as they share in their children’s process of enjoying reading and developing as skilled readers.
In this workshop, we discussed the importance of reading before letter recognition, and reading strategies supported by illustrations, a kind of reading which develops imagination and spoken grammatical structure. We approached the relevance of expressing complete, coherent ideas orally while keeping hold of the stories’ guiding thread. Parents who attended were able to live the experience themselves, and could enjoy, ask questions, and clarify ideas to strengthen emotional ties through reading books.
Desde el Centro de Recursos para el Aprendizaje (CRA) y en el marco del el programa “La alegría de leer”, realizamos el pasado jueves 29 de septiembre el taller LEER SIN LETRAS, dirigido a las madres y padres de los estudiantes de prejardín y jardín, con el ánimo de apoyarlos con estrategias para acompañar a sus hijos en el proceso del disfrute de la lectura y su formación como lectores. En el taller conversamos acerca de la importancia de la lectura antes de las letras, la lectura apoyada en las ilustraciones desarrollando la imaginación y se abordó la relevancia de expresar oralmente las ideas con sentido completo, llevando el hilo conductor de las historias. Los padres y madres asistentes vivieron la experiencia, pudieron disfrutar, preguntar y aclarar ideas para crear lazos afectivos a través de los libros.
