I Know and Use High Frequency Words!

Kinder students enjoy learning English vocabulary through a process of constructing meaning, learning about the world through theme – based units provides a meaningful basis for a variety of  language tasks. This week we started our new unit: I like food.

Students were able to share their preferences with food and use all the vocabulary related to this topic. They practice through songs, flash cards and real food. They also were able to read and write sentences, using the high frequency words the knew and practice the new structure I Like.Recognizing and being able to read high-frequency words gives children the confidence they need. High-frequency words provide the building blocks for children’s reading success. Learning to recognize these words quickly and automatically is an important step in becoming a fluent reader.

During this class activity students were able to play and have fun, feeling successful using the high frequency words and the food vocabulary.

Students were able to share their food preferences and use all the vocabulary related to this topic. They practiced through songs, pictures and real food. They were able to read and write sentences, using the frequently used words they knew and practiced the new structure Me gusta.

Recognizing and being able to read frequently used words gives children the confidence they need to strengthen their reading and writing process.

During this classroom activity, the children were able to practice new vocabulary, have fun and learn.
